JERANTUT, 22 January 2016 – About 40 students and 20 staffs of KPTM Kuantan joined Kolej Poly-Tech MARA’s “One Heart, One Soul: Reaching Out The Community” CSR program at Kampung Kedondong, Pulau Tawar, Jerantut, Pahang. Rainy weather did not deter the spirit of the volunteers to clean the tomb and its surrounding area. This program was jointly organized by KPTM Kuantan, the Office of Jerantut MP, the Office of the State Assemblyman of Pulau Tawar, the Office of Pulau Tawar Chieftain and the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Kampung Kedondong.
Among the dignitaries present were the Chairman of KPTM cum Jerantut MP, YB. Hj. Ahmad Nazlan Bin Idris, the Treasurer of UMNO Jerantut, YBhg. Dato’ Jalaluddin Bin Hj. Ghazali and the Director of KPTM Kuantan, Pn. Nor Azah Bt Mohamed Azahar. A signage was placed by the dignitaries to mark KPTM Kuantan’s contribution to the area.
The project director, Muhammad Alif Aiman Bin Abdul Ghani who is also a second semester student from the Diploma in Civil Engineering (Construction Safety) was proud as KPTM Kuantan is the first Higher Education Institution (IPT) to carry out CSR program in the sub-district. He also added that this program served as the best platform for students to recognize and appreciate the Malay patriots because most of them know the patriots only through text books. Students can gain new experiences through social service activities while fostering caring attitude towards the society.
The CSR program was officiated by the Chairman, YB. Hj. Ahmad Nazlan Bin Idris at Dewan Tengku Azlan, Galeri Mat Kilau. In his speech, he said that such a program will help to bolster the spirit of cooperation besides fostering goodwill and harmony among KPTM community and the locals. This program will be an annual activity for KPTM Kuantan under the “One Heart, One Soul: Reaching Out The Community” platform. The Chairman also announced that the tomb of Mat Kilau will be listed as one of KPTM Kuantan CSR’s sites.
He also hoped that KPTM Kuantan will continue to produce graduates with excellent social skill, mental strength and attitude.
At the same event, the Chairman presented the contribution of food necessities and bunga kantan seedlings to the selected villagers to promote the local agricultural industry. Also present were the State Assemblyman of Pulau Tawar, YB. Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Syukri Ismail, the Vice President of Academic cum Acting Chief Executive Officer of KPTM, YBhg. En. Ismail Hj. Junuh, the Treasurer of UMNO Jerantut, YBhg. Dato’ Jalaluddin Hj. Ghazali, KPTM Senior Director of Corporate Planning, En. Nordin Ahmad, KPTM Senior Director of Logistic and Asset, En. Mohd Sahidi Yaakob, the Chieftain of Pulau Tawar, En. Amir Hamzah as well as the management and staffs of KPTM Kuantan.
